adding subtracting square roots

Can someone help me with my homework queries? They are based on adding subtracting square roots. I have read a some sample questions on parallel lines and percentages but that didn’t really help me in finding solutions to the questions on my assignment. I couldn’t sleep last night since I have to turn in pretty soon. But the problem is no matter how much time I invest, I just don’t seem to be getting the hang of it. Every question poses a new problem, one which seems to be tougher than climbing Mt.Everest! I need some help right away. Somebody please guide me.
