conversion of quadratic form to slope-intercept form

I'm getting really bored in my math class. It's conversion of quadratic form to slope-intercept form, but we're covering higher grade material. The concepts are really complex and that’s why I usually sleep in the class. I like the subject and don’t want to drop it, but I have a big problem understanding it. Can someone guide me?

Algebrator is really a good software program that helps to deal with algebra problems. I remember facing difficulties with converting fractions, side-angle-side similarity and converting decimals.
