trivia puzzle in trigonometry and geometry

Hi! Our class just started tackling a new chapter in math about trivia puzzle in trigonometry and geometry and I did well for most assignments we got but the latest one my teacher gave hard so I'd love if somebody would assist me to understand it! It’s a problem solving homework my algebra teacher gave out this day and it’s due next week and I tried answering it but still can’t get it right. I just can’t answer it with ease unlike the other assignments. I had an easy time solving my past homeworks but this particular homework with specific topic of function definition just gives me a hard time just figuring out how to start. I’m desperately in need of help. I’ll really appreciate if somebody help me in explaining the steps and how to solve it in a organized and clear way.
